The Sangitha Kalanidhis, this year.

It's official. The Music Academy, Chennai has chosen the Bombay sisters for the award of Sangita Kalanidhi. So, Smt. C Saroja and Smt. C Lalitha will be presiding over this year's conference in December. While we remember Smt. M S, Smt. D K Pattammal, Smt. M L V, Smt. Brinda, Smt. Muktha etc, the name Bombay sisters does come to our minds. It would not be wrong to place the sister siblings in the league of one of the best female musicians.

The other awardees, this year are:

• Suguna Varadachary (Sangita Kala Acharya).
• Rhadha, Dance Guru (Sangita Kala Acharya).
• Manakkal Rangarajan and Parassala Ponnammal (TTK award).
• R Sathyanarayana (Musicologist award).
• Radha Narayanan (Papa Venkatramaiah).

The chief guests for the function would be Shiv Nadar, Chairman HCL and Venkatraman Ramakrishnan, Nobel laureate.
