'Pramaanam'

'Pramaanam' is a collection in compact disc, of select authentic versions of compositions of trinity. They have been rendered by my guru Sangita Kalanidhi Smt. R Vedavalli and released by Swathi Soft Solutions. I attended a release function organized at Raga Sudha Hall organized on 1st May.

It started with three of the students of Smt. Vedavalli viz., Smt. Sumithra Vasudev, Sumathi Krishnan and R Malini singing a these kritis from the twin CD pack:

1) Chetulaara Sringaaramu - Kharaharapriya - Aadi - Tyaagaraaja.
2) Nee Daasaanu - Hameerkalyaani - Aadi - Tyaagaraja.
3) Ninnuvinaa Marigalada - Aabheri - Aadi - Syaama Saastri.
4) Raama Neeyeda - Dileepakam - Aadi - Tyaagaraja.
5) Maaye Tvam Yaahi - Tarangini - Aadi - Dikshithar.

That was followed by speeches by really knowledgeable personalities in the field like Sri Umayalpuram Sivaraman and Sri T M Krishna. Sri N Murali presided over the function and the first copy of the CD was received by Sri Umayalpuram.

All speakers applauded the initiative taken by Smt. Vedavalli and hoped that this initiative will place on record the authentic versions of these compositions for posterity. They also wished that more such releases should happen for the benefit of the art.
