OVS sir is no more.

One of my gurus Sri. O V Subramaniam passed away. He was above 90 and was ill for a long time.

He was one of the best in terms of fitness regimen and I remember him walking without stick for a long time. His walking used to be brisk. I have lot of remembrances when I used to live in Delhi and learn from his daughter Smt. Padmavathy Natesan. He used to enthusiastically conduct music classes and discuss about musical matters. He was very strict in pathantara. He learned from many great musicians of yester years like Sri Tiger Varadachary and Sri Ponnaiah Pillai and interacted with many others.

All of his children are well known carnatic musicians. Sri O S Thiagarajan is a carnatic performer, Sri O S Arun has forayed into devotional music, Sri O S Sundar is into Namasankeertanam and Smt. Padmavathy Natesan is into teaching music. It is very difficult and rare to find so many family members to be associated with music. Sri O V S's grandchildren are also musicians.

I feel very proud to be associated with such a family. It is very hard for me even to believe that he is no more. May his soul rest in peace :(
