Sri P S Narayanaswamy's lec-dem.

Senior musician and student of the legendary Semmangudi Srinivasa Iyer, Sri. P S Narayanaswamy presented a short and sweet lec-dem on the occasion of his birthday celebrations organized by P S N Disciples Foundation at Raga Sudha Hall, Mylapore. He spoke on his guru's perspectives and approach towards music and how this influenced his music. Some shlokas in vruttam form sung by Sri P S N were played. These were indicative of the musician's vidvat over the music and of course the knowledge acquired under Sri Semmangudi.

Sri P S N went on to speak about how shArIram (voice support and facility) used to be a big hurdle for iyerval to cross. He recalled how his guru used to take rest, start singing in madhya sthayi shadja and then slowly scale up to higher registers. And once when iyerval's voice settles down, he would present such a music which would merge and mingle with the very shruti and would culminate into the vision of supreme, he said.

Then some disciples of Sri P S N spoke on their guru's teachings and their influences on them. All in all it was a good package presented to the rasikas.
